PKM Architects is an award-winning architecture and planning firm based in Memphis, providing services nationally & internationally for over 50 years, with the majority of work concentrated around the Memphis metropolitan area and Southeast region. In partnership with its sister company, cnct development, PKM also provides project management, construction management, financial modelling, and real-estate development services, with an expanding portfolio of self-initiated commercial, multi-family, and mixed-use projects.

We are currently looking for an Architect/Associate Architect who shares our holistic approach to architectural practice and the built environment to join our growing team. Ideal candidates will be those capable of thinking and working across disciplines, proven leaders and collaborators, curious and inquisitive, highly organized, self-motivated, and committed to design excellence.



  • Professional degree in architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch)
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience
  • Actively pursuing licensure
  • Construction Documentation & Administration experience
  • Advanced Revit and Adobe Suite experience
  • Strong graphic, presentation, and communication experience
  • Strong professional references


  • Experience with adaptive-reuse, cultural, educational, multi-family, and mixed-use projects
  • Proficient Understanding of materials, construction processes, systems, and methodologies, especially with wood-framing, metal-framing, and existing buildings
  • BIM coordination experience
  • Proven experience with building design, technical detailing and consultant coordination, or actively developing these skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of building codes and Memphis & Shelby County Zoning and permitting processes
  • AutoCAD, Enscape, Excel, Lumion, Rhino, Sketchup, and rendering experience a plus
  • Specification-writing experience a plus
  • LEED AP or GA a plus
  • Interest in all aspects of real-estate project development, from acquisition through construction completion and occupancy a plus



  • Prepare and/or assist with the preparation and presentation of programmatic and schematic proposals and design options
  • Prepare historical research on existing buildings
  • Prepare conceptual design presentations
  • Define RFP and scope of work requirements for consultant professionals
  • Coordinate and produce material at all phases of design (schematic design, design development, and construction documents)
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining effective communication, quality control, and deadlines


  • Participate in Owner/Architect/Contractor weekly or bi-weekly meetings
  • Perform site visits and produce field observation reports and punch-lists (occasional travel may be required depending on project location)
  • Manage communication and revisions as part of the CA process
  • Assist with the review of shop drawings, submittals, and approvals
  • Negotiate code interpretations with authorities having jurisdiction, as needed
  • Advocate throughout for great design/preservation of building design intent

Staff Support

  • Perform technical review of drawing sets
  • Serve as technical resource for project teams
  • Plan, schedule, and direct the work of self in coordination with team
  • Provide feedback to staff to continually improve QA/QC for the firm
