Carol Ross Barney, FAIA, HASLA, the distinguished 2023 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal recipient, is a visionary architect, urbanist, mentor, and educator, and has relentlessly advocated that excellent design is a right, not a privilege.
Nader Tehrani, NADAAA
For his contributions to architecture as an art, Tehrani is the recipient of The American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize, the highest form of recognition of artistic merit in the United States.


Pascale Sablan, FAIA, NOMAC, LEED AP
Pascale Sablan, FAIA, NOMAC, LEED AP, Chief Executive Officer, New York Studio at Adjaye Associates, with over 18 years of experience, has been on the team for numerous projects around the world.

Joshua Aidlin, FAIA
Joshua Aidlin, FAIA, leads a multidisciplinary studio—producing architecture, interiors, furniture, and sculptures—with a conviction that art and design are integral to vibrant public life.


Kim Yao, FAIA
Kim Yao, FAIA, is Principal of Architecture Research Office (ARO). She is a lecturer at MIT and has taught at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation; the School of Constructed Environments, Parsons the New School for Design; and Barnard College.

Carol Ross Barney, FAIA, HASLA, the distinguished 2023 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal recipient, is a visionary architect, urbanist, mentor, and educator, and has relentlessly advocated that excellent design is a right, not a privilege. Through her unwavering dedication to designing public buildings and spaces that elevate our daily lives, she has produced distinctive structures and places that have become cultural icons.
Nader Tehrani
For his contributions to architecture as an art, Tehrani is the recipient of The American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize, the highest form of recognition of artistic merit in the United States. He is also the recipient of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Design, and the Design Visionary by Cooper Hewitt and the Smithsonian Museum of Design National Design awards. Tehrani is Founding Principal of NADAAA, an interdisciplinary practice with a body of work in infrastructure, urbanism, architecture, and installations. Tehrani is also the former Dean of The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at The Cooper Union. The works of Nader Tehrani have been widely exhibited at MOMA, LA MOCA and ICA Boston.


Pascale Sablan, FAIA, NOMAC, LEED AP
Pascale Sablan, FAIA, NOMAC, LEED AP, Chief Executive Officer, New York Studio at Adjaye Associates, with over 18 years of experience, has been on the team for numerous projects around the world. Pascale is the 315th living African-American woman registered architect in the United States. She is an activist architect who works to advance architecture for the betterment of society through bringing visibility and voice to the issues concerning women and BIPOC designers. She founded the Beyond the Built Environment organization to address the inequitable disparities in architecture.

Joshua Aidlin, FAIA
Joshua Aidlin, FAIA, leads a multidisciplinary studio—producing architecture, interiors, furniture, and sculptures—with a conviction that art and design are integral to vibrant public life. Joshua advances an architecture demonstrating environmental, cultural, psychological, and multisensorial sensitivity.


Kim Yao, FAIA
Kim Yao, FAIA, is Principal of Architecture Research Office (ARO). She holds an undergraduate degree in architecture from Columbia College: Columbia University and a Master of Architecture from Princeton University. She is a lecturer at MIT and has taught at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation; the School of Constructed Environments, Parsons the New School for Design; and Barnard College. She has lectured throughout the United States and abroad. Kim has been awarded the AIA New York (AIANY) Medal of Honor and the Beverly Willis Foundation Mentorship Award. She was President of AIANY in 2020 and serves on the Board of the Center for Architecture.
