Kyle Lommen of Allied Works will present Structural Space, Light, Materiality and the Art of Making: Access to natural light is a fundamental quality of design that addresses and improves human health. By incorporating natural daylighting into projects, architects can positively impact well-being. This presentation will explore how architects can develop the design process to address how structure, light, and materiality define the occupant experience. Participants will gain practical concepts that can be applied to the design to enhance the user experience.


Kyle Lommen is a Principal at Allied Works Architecture, where he has overseen the design, management, consultant coordination, and the overall execution of the firm’s projects since 1997. uring his 20 year tenure at Allied Works, Kyle has played a critical role in the design and management of AWA’s most significant projects including the Weiden+Kennedy World Headquarters in Portland, OR, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC, the National Music Centre of Canada in Calgary, and the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus, OH.
