Tour Description

The tour will start at the top, with the tallest occupied floor building, 505 (Nashville). Developed by Giarratana Development and designed by Chicago based Solomon Cordwell Buenz, it was just recently completed in early 2018. The building has a total of 543 residential units with ground level retail while rising 522’ in 45 stories. 5 stories of parking below grade contain 187 parking spaces and there are an additional 500 spaces in an adjacent parking garage. The new post tensioned concrete structure contains a staggering 33,700 cubic yards of concrete, 225 tons of post tension cable and 2,600 tons of rebar. The tour will be given by the Development Director for Giarratana Development and fellow Architect Mr. Ted Kromer.

An experienced developer of more than 275 million square feet across more than 870 properties, Hines’ first property in downtown Nashville is 222 Second Avenue South—a 390,000-square-foot mixed-use office tower which sits across First Avenue from the new West Riverfront Park and Ascend Amphitheater in the city’s SoBro neighborhood. Along with 361k sf of Class A office space, the 25-floor tower features 29k sf of ground-level retail and 10 levels of structured parking totaling 1,100 spaces. Nashville based Gresham Smith and Partners provided the design services for the building and will lead the tour relaying stories about the design process, unique site conditions, and challenging fast-track construction schedule. The tour will also include the interiors of Gresham Smith’s new Corporate Headquarters which occupies three floors in the building overlooking the amenity deck which faces the Cumberland River and Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater.
