In order to support their goals and strategic plan to become a top-tier public research university, the University of Tennessee continues to upgrade and enhance their campus through new building and planning projects. Participants will learn about current trends in higher education classroom, laboratory, and student life amenity design while visiting recently completed buildings at the University of Tennessee.
- Learn strategies and outcomes for projects utilizing the State of Tennessee’s High Performance Building Guidelines that addresses issues, such as energy efficiency, occupant productivity and life-cycle.
- Observe the impacts of site complexities when working within an existing university campus to maintain quality of student life, student safety, and not create onerous distractions.
- Understand the way certain interior architectural design strategies are applied to affect the occupant’s behavior and their ability to positively study, learn or work in the various buildings on campus.
- Learn that placemaking goes beyond the design of a building and how architects designed buildings at UT to create experiences for human interaction.
