DESCRIPTION:March 25-26\, 2026  | 12 – 4pm ET  / 9am-1pm PT \nIntended for licensed architects\, engineers\, or certified building inspectors\, this training certifies attendees as Building Evaluators in the nationally recognized Safety Assessment Program (SAP). \n\nTo register | Click Add to cart and complete the checkout process.\nEvaluator Field Manuals |  ATC 45 | ATC 20 | Participants are responsible for purchasing these texts from ATC. They are not included in the course cost.\n\nThe program is managed by Cal OES with cooperation from professional organizations\, including AIA. It utilizes volunteers and mutual aid resources to provide professional engineers\, architects and certified building inspectors to assist local governments in safety evaluation of their built environment in an aftermath of a disaster. SAP is the training standard of the AIA Disaster Assistance Program\, which provides leadership\, advocacy\, and training to architects who are interested in volunteering their professional skills in times of crisis. This workshop will teach participants to conduct rapid damage assessments of structures affected by earthquakes\, wind\, and water. Upon completion of this course\, participants will be able to consistently and safely assess structures for habitability and will receive a nationally recognized Cal OES registration ID card from the state of California. \nLearning Objectives\n\n\nRecognize the important role architects and associated building professionals play in disaster preparedness\, response\, and recovery.\n\n\n\n\nAccurately conduct a post-disaster rapid building assessment and complete appropriate damage assessment forms.\n\n\n\n\nDemonstrate understanding of the Applied Technology Council’s ATC 20 Post-earthquake Safety Evaluation of Buildings and ATC 45 Safety Evaluation of Buildings after Windstorms and Floods damage assessment procedures.\n\n\n\n\nExplain the features of the Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS)\, including how SAP and other requirements fit within those systems to support disaster response.\n\nCertification process \nAfter successfully completing both days of the AIA’s SAP training\, eligible individuals will need to fill out the Cal OES registration form in order to receive their California-issued registration ID card. \nTo earn AIA CE LUs for this course\, participants must attend both live sessions and complete the 36-question quiz. Purchase of this course is non-refundable. \n​Not yet licensed? While this training is intended for licensed architects\, engineers\, or certified building inspectors\, we encourage students and emerging professionals to take the training. Completing the training provides early exposure to the importance of disaster assistance and helps build a sustainable pipeline of future and certified professionals that can serve as Building Evaluators. If you become licensed within 5 years of successfully completing the training\, you are eligible to be certified and receive a Cal-OES registration ID Card. In the meantime\, you will be able to participate in deployments under the supervision of a licensed and certified architect. \nCourse registrations are non-refundable. No transfers to future SAP training sessions will be permitted less than a week before the scheduled session.

DESCRIPTION:Save the date! Location and time to be announced soon. \nFollowing large-scale disasters—such as tornadoes and earthquakes—there is a need to assess\nbuildings for safe occupancy and continued use. Critical facilities (emergency operations\ncenters\, hospitals\, shelters\, etc.) are key to community recovery and must be inspected for\nsafety quickly following a disaster. Likewise\, individuals and business owners will want to\nreturn to home\, school\, or work and need to know if buildings are safe to occupy. Local\njurisdictions may not have the resources to evaluate a large number of buildings in a short\nperiod of time. \nTNSAVE is comprised of volunteer engineers\, architects\, building inspectors and other trained\nprofessionals. These volunteers can be called upon after a disaster to assist local jurisdictions\nin determining which buildings are safe to use and which should be evacuated. To qualify for\nconducting building evaluations with TNSAVE post-disaster\, you are required to complete or\nto have completed the Visual Assessment Training session or an approved alternative within\nthe past three years. DESCRIPTION:TNSAVE is conducting post-disaster structural evaluation training. Their goal is to have 7000 trained inspectors. If you want to help people in their darkest hour using your professional training and experience\, we invite you to sign up for TNSAVE and become certified by taking one of our upcoming classes.  \nTNSAVE is comprised of professional organizations whose objective is to help the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) develop and maintain a post-disaster building inspector program. TNSAVE serves TEMA and the State of Tennessee to train and organize building inspectors for disasters such as earthquakes\, tornados and floods. TNSAVE Members are usually engineers\, architects\, building inspectors/enforcement\, or other construction and design professionals with an interest in serving following a disaster.  \nTo be eligible to volunteer to perform building evaluations for TEMA following a disaster\, you must have taken training or an approved alternate within the last 3 years.  \nSeptember 6\, 2024 – West Tennessee \nTNSAVE will be hosting a virtual and in person training\, at Flintco Center for Excellence\, 65 Germantown Court\, Suite 102\, Cordova\, TN 38018. Directions for accessing the location will be provided to those who register for in-person attendance.  \nPDH certificates for Engineers will be provided. AIA continuing education credits will be provided for Architects.
