2024 Presidential Award of Excellence

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – AIA Tennessee recently honored individuals whose efforts and achievements have significantly improved the presence of AIA Tennessee, the profession of architecture and/or the built environment in Tennessee.

Kim Chamberlin, AIA (Crossville) is recognized for his incredible time and dedication serving on the Government Relations committee for over the past 10 years. His calm yet highly effective leadership has made a significant impact on AIA Tennessee and the profession. His most recent contribution is leading the Safe School Design task force in discussions with the State of Tennessee as it relates to the safe school design standards.

Amy Hardin, AIA (Nashville) is recognized for being a leader and champion for her advocacy work in attainable housing efforts. With her leadership, members specializing in attainable housing collaborate, share knowledge and focus on solutions related to the housing crisis in Tennessee.

Joshua “Josh” Flowers, FAIA (Nashville) is honored for his leadership and dedication over the years in representing members at various capacities at the local, state and national level. Through his efforts, he has consistently worked for the betterment of AIA and will start his term serving as the AIA National Secretary in 2025.

Matt Jordan, AIA (Knoxville)

Matt Jordan, AIA (Knoxville) is recognized for serving as the 2024 Chair of AIA TN’s Conference on Architecture. Over the past several months, Matt has devoted countless hours to planning and leading the committee, ensuring development of innovative and thoughtful session for attendees, and setting a higher standard of excellence for future conferences.

Sophorn Olsen, AIA (Memphis)

Sophorn Olsen, AIA (Memphis) is honored for her legacy role on AIA TN’s Conference Committee. For nearly a decade, Sophorn has taken on the task of interviewing conference speakers and authoring the Speaker Spotlights that are packaged in an email to membership and on social media to educate attendees and promote the conference.

Carol Pedigo, Hon. AIA (Nashville)

Carol Pedigo, Hon. AIA (Nashville) is recognized for her unwavering service to AIA for over 30 years. Throughout her tenure, Carol has been a true friend to many and is admired by all wo have had the privilege to work wither. Her commitment and influence have shaped our organization in countless positive ways, leaving a lasting legacy for years to come.

William “Bill” Steffenhagan, AIA (Nashville) is honored for his dedicated volunteer work in reviewing and discussing building codes as a representative of AIA Tennessee with the TN State Fire Marshal’s office. His commitment over the years to educate stakeholders on the importance of these codes and advocate for adoption has been invaluable. Bill’s efforts have helped ensure safer, more resilient communities.
