Today, we are highlighting Tamarah Begay, founder of Indigenous Design Studio + Architecture (IDS+A), a Navajo Woman Owned architectural firm located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is also the founding member of the American Indian Council of Architects and Engineers and passionate about diverse representation in the profession. With Tamarah’s leadership, the firm has produced meaningful community driven design through an innovative and collaborate approach.

Today, we are highlighting Madison and Mark Talley, founding partners of Tall Architects based in the coastal town of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Their presentation at the conference – Sink or Swim: Resiliency through Adaptation – truly fits with the conference theme of How To, reflecting the firm’s thoughtful and progressive view of problem-solving through architecture. As they push boundaries in the design process, the end goal ultimately is about the community. They seek to create “intelligently designed, and beautiful, built spaces that enrich and enliven the community.”

Today’s AIA Tennessee Conference speaker spotlight features Arthi Krishnamoorthy, partner at the New York-based architecture firm Deborah Berke Partners. Her presentation will focus on the topic of Adaptive Reuse, a topic in which the firm has been actively demonstrating in many of their key projects.
