Committee / Task Force Group Descriptions
- Disaster Preparedness Committee – serves as emergency support system with TN SAVE (TN Structural Assessment & Visual Evaluation) to assist and educate regional government and communities in times of disaster. Strives to increase the number of volunteers training to assist in disaster relief.
- Emerging Professionals Committee – consists of mainly of Emerging Professionals throughout the state and strives to further the engagement and professional development of all Associate AIA members, students, and architects licensed under 10 years in the state component. Promote licensure to membership. Committee composition implemented in 2014 includes (but not limited to) a representative from each local chapter as a liaison.
- Government Relations Committee – promotes the profession to various government agencies and at the state legislature, Reviews proposed laws and rules, taking timely action to support or oppose issues that affect the organization and the profession. It organizes efforts to block unfavorable regulations and support favorable laws in state agencies and in legislature. Subcommittees under this committee are formed for various topics such as school safety, attainable housing, codes, advocacy programming, etc.
- Justice, Equity + Diversity, Inclusion Committee – Created in 2019, the JE+DI committee was established to engage embers across the state and serves as a collaborative unit set out to follow through on the declaration to Acknowledge. Listen. Learn. Act to increase diversity participation and leadership within the profession.
- State Conference on Architecture Committee– responsible for the conference. With the assistance and guidance of staff, the committee should plan a cost-effective and fiscally responsible event that furthers the professional goals of the organization’s membership. The workload handled by this committee may require establishment of subcommittee.
- Codes Adoption Task Force – review, discuss and recommend proposed updates on various codes
- Licensure & Licensing Board Task Force – provide guidance on proposed rules and advocate for best practices in professional development as it aligns with AIA values
- K – 12 Statewide Best Practice Group – understand programs developed to create pipeline of future architects, discuss best practices and promote the profession.
