Adaptive Reuse & Sustainable Design in Specialty Education

The project is a collaborative public/private effort to provide an innovative vocational school and industry center for construction trades.  The facility is the renovation and modernization of approximately 27,000 square feet of an existing school building with two new hi-bay additions; one conditioned and the other open air.  The facility will total around 30,000 square feet of educational space.  There will also be a ‘yard’ or outdoor construction area where hands on experience can be gained in the different construction trades.  The school is designed with the intent of striving for a zero carbon footprint and the hope of a future electrical micro-grid.
