Position Summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of ETCDC. This position is responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial leadership of the organization. The Executive Director manages staff, oversees key programs, drives fundraising efforts, and serves as the public face of the organization, ensuring that ETCDC grows as a respected leader in community design and civic engagement across the region.

Qualifications & Attributes
Required:
- Passion for ETCDC’s mission and the power of design to shape thriving, equitable communities.
- Proven leadership and management experience, ideally in a nonprofit, community planning, or design-related context.
- Strong fundraising and donor relations skills; experience with grants and public funding.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and represent the organization effectively.
- Familiarity with nonprofit governance, board engagement, and public-private partnerships.
- Experience in budgeting, financial oversight, and organizational operations.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to foster trust, motivation, and teamwork.
Preferred:
- Professional experience or academic background in architecture, planning, urban design, or related field.
- Proficiency with tools such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM platforms.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, architecture, urban planning, public administration).

- Full-time, based in Knoxville, TN, with occasional regional travel.
