With a career spanning nearly 40 years, Juan has extensive experience in the design of schools, churches, multi-family housing, civic/government facilities, commercial and cultural spaces and has helped his firm earn multiple design, preservation, and sustainability awards.
Juan is demonstrating that thoughtful design with a community centered focus results in a built environment that promotes a better quality of life for all. Behind each design strategy is an emphasis on our responsibility and commitment to the longevity of our planet and its inhabitants. He has a passion for neighborhood development, community empowerment through revitalization, sustainable design, and the preservation of cultural assets. The broad impact architecture has on the vibrancy and viability of communities brings great excitement and professional fulfillment. This excitement is tempered by the great responsibility we have as stewards of our environment and its people. This focus was inspired and shaped by the proud people of the Mississippi Delta where Juan grew up and witnessed those who endured through the harshest of times maintain a sense of community.
Juan has served on the board of @aiamemphis, as president of the Black Business Association, and Chair of the Memphis/Shelby County Building Code Advisory Board and the Tennessee Preservation Trust.
