We’re looking for your voice.
As part of our upcoming seminar “Open Mic: Voices That Resonate,” we invite four to five individuals from across Tennessee to take the stage and share personal stories that bring to life the themes found in the AIA Guides for Equitable Practice—from mentorship and access to leadership, belonging, and cultural representation in architecture.
This session is rooted in the belief that storytelling can create powerful ripples of change. Through spoken word, poetry, narrative, or any creative format that moves you, we want to hear how you have experienced or witnessed equity in practice—whether as an emerging professional finding your place, a seasoned architect reflecting on lessons learned, or anyone in between navigating identity, power, and purpose in the built environment.
We’re especially seeking stories that:
- Reflect personal or professional experiences related to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
- Engage with key themes in the AIA Guides for Equitable Practice (e.g., intersectionality, workplace culture, transparency, leadership, and community)
- Inspire deeper dialogue across generations and roles in the profession
- Offer a vision for a more equitable future in architecture
Each selected storyteller will have approximately 8-10 minutes during the live seminar to present.
Deadline to submit: June 27th
