That’s A Wrap-Thanks for Your Participation…Join Us in 2014!
“Great job! It was a great convention.”
“I have been to many state run AIA conferences over the past few years and this was by far the best.”
If you didn’t attend this year’s AIA Tennessee Convention and Expo…you missed out!
Architects from across the state met in Nashville at the Music City Center, August 14-16. Attendees enjoyed three days of continuing education, touring iconic buildings across Nashville, honoring the state’s top architects/firms and hearing from nationally renowned designers such as Frank Harmon, Dan Rockhill and Gray Plosser. You can review their presentations at your convenience.

Feedback to Your Convention Evaluations
Thanks so much for your evaluation response. We are only as good as our joint commitment, and we value your guidance. We wanted to provide some additional info regarding a few of your comments:
Why don’t we bring in our own healthier food? Facilities policies (and probably state and local law) prohibit bringing in any food or drink.
Why don’t we have more bottled water available? Each bottled water costs $4.00, including mandatory tax and gratuity; and each bottle contributes to our trash problem. We kept a large container of water in the back of our meeting room and in the exhibit hall. Perhaps we should have publicized their availability more.
Please coordinate program times for speakers and tours better so we don’t have down time. In our experience, the ideal time for a speaker is 1.5 hours—to allow for questions, etc. The ideal time for a tour is at least 2 hours—otherwise the experience is too superficial for educational credit. Certainly we should study our combinations to see how we can improve. However, they will never match up precisely; but you are certainly welcome to catch the remainder of any speaker presentations while you are waiting.
On-site programs are important—and ours was confusing. Simply put, this ball was dropped. We tried to create something on-site and messed up a couple of tour times and locations. We offer our apologies and a refund to those inconvenienced. Next year, we’ll monitor our communications schedule more closely. We also strive to minimize paper, but we get your need for an on-site schedule.
Again, thanks for your feedback. Let us know if you have ideas for future programs, would like to volunteer, etc

Information
What do Conde Nast Travel Magazine, Forbes and the New York Times have in common? All have singled out Nashville as a Great Urban Escape, home to excellent Southern cuisine, surprisingly great hotels and of course, music, music, music. We are talking “one of the five best places to go in the world, according to Conde Nast. Mark your calendars now, and plan to have a mind-boggling time at the new convention center. Then, close your eyes and imagine which architects might inspire you – yep, that’s the caliber speakers we are bringing in this year.
With creativity on your mind, imagine sitting down at the “RedBird Cafe,” for an intimate evening with Nashville’s premiere songwriter, Rivers Rutherford. And, wait, there’s more – Design Awards Gala, and the second annual Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Much is new this year, including a requirement that all convention registration be conducted on-line. We struggled with this decision, but we have so many registration variables that multi-sourced registration had become problematic.
TAPAC Silent Auction:Â If you are able to contribute to this effort, please fill out and return the linked form. Your generous support is greatly appreciated.
Registration
Early Bird registration rates have been extended until Friday, July 19.
Registration will be online this year, available via a link from this page.
